Cessation of Mammography Services Message

Dear Valued Patients,

Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi is committed to providing you with the highest quality care and services. As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the best possible healthcare experience, we want to inform you of a temporary adjustment to our mammography services.

Beginning August 15, 2025, Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi will temporarily pause mammography services as we evaluate our resources and operational needs to better serve you. This decision was made with careful consideration to ensure we continue providing the highest quality care across all services.

During this time, you will continue to have access to mammography services through TRICARE network providers within our community. You can search for in-network providers by visiting https://tricare.mil/GettingCare/FindDoctor. We understand the importance of these screenings and are here to guide you through the referral process to ensure continuity of care.

How to Obtain a Mammogram:

Active-Duty Service Members (ADSM):

  • Prior authorization from TriWest (TRICARE) is required to ensure proper claims processing and payment. You will receive an automated phone call letting you know that your authorization has been approved and is ready to be utilized. How are they notified once authorization is complete? Your Primary Care Manager (PCM) can verify your authorization, or you can obtain a copy of your authorization by visiting your beneficiary portal at https://tricare-bene.triwest.com/signin (can they check the TriWest portal?).

Active-Duty Family Members and Retirees:

  •  For patients ages 40 and up: While prior authorization from TriWest is not required, beneficiaries will need a script (no referral required by TRICARE or referral?) for the mammogram prior to screening. Beneficiaries can contact their PCM to obtain a written referral, or your PCM team can fax an order to your preferred network provider.
  • For patients ages 30 to 39: Prior authorization from TriWest is required. How are they notified once authorization is complete? You will receive an automated phone call letting you know that your authorization has been approved and is ready to be utilized. Your Primary Care Manager (PCM) can verify your authorization or you can obtain a copy of your authorization by visiting your beneficiary portal at https://tricare-bene.triwest.com/signin (can they check the TriWest portal?)

We understand that this temporary adjustment may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Our team is here to assist you in navigating the referral and authorization process to ensure you receive the care you need.

If you have any questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Relations Officer at (361) 961-2810. For TRICARE information, visit https://tricare.mil/CoveredServices/IsItCovered/Mammograms.
